# Order Hold Management
> Understanding and managing different types of order holds in the fulfillment system
When orders are submitted into the Fulfillment Portal, there are a few ways an order can go:
* Waiting to Be Released
* Future Requested Ship Date
* Sent to WMS
* A different type of order hold
The desired outcome is for the order to show a status of **"Waiting to Be Released,"** **"Sent to WMS,"** or **"Future Requested Ship Date."** These statuses indicate that there are no issues with the order, and it can ship on the next available date or the date specified in the order.
Orders that are **Processing** can be edited in the system, including modifications to the ship date, destination address, and SKU lines on the order.
Orders that are **Fulfilling** have exceeded all other holds and are currently being physically packed by the warehouse. Therefore, orders that are Fulfilling **cannot be edited in the system**. All modification requests (except for UPS redirect/address change) must be emailed to [csoperations@winedirectfulfillment.com](mailto:csoperations@winedirectfulfillment.com) to submit to the carrier.
However, further intervention is needed when an order shows any other type of status.
To view a summary of all order holds on your account, go to the Fulfillment Dashboard and refer to **"Orders On Hold"**:
## Order Hold Names and Definitions
There are many holds that an order can go under, and it is important to understand what each hold means so that the order can be managed correctly to remove the hold (if applicable).
We have created a glossary of all order holds that can be viewed below. This glossary will provide the hold name as well as the description of the hold and what action will need to be taken to remove the hold.

| Address Length Exception | The Shipping Address is too long for the carrier label. Edit the address to shorten the address lines. |
| Auto Release Configuration Exception | Auto Release configuration issue, contact Client Success for resolution. |
| Billing Exception | An issue occurred while the order was processed for billing. WineDirect Fulfillment action required. |
| Carrier Requirements Exception | Carrier requirements do not match the order or configuration needs correction. |

| Ship To Zip Code Exception | The ship to Zip Code is a dry zip code or does not match the ship to state. |
